【Palm Fiber Products】
●Since natural fibers are used, powder and palm fibers may fall off initially. If this concerns you, please lay down newspaper or similar material and shake off the powder and palm fibers thoroughly before use.
●If the copper wire is damaged, discontinue use immediately as it may cause injury.
●As these are handcrafted products, size and shape may vary slightly.
●As a characteristic of natural fibers, the bristles may curl when dried. If this concerns you, lightly dampen and let dry before use.
Storage Instructions
●After use, store in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
●For brooms, hang in a cool place away from direct sunlight, avoid rainwater, and store so that the bristles do not touch the ground.

This is a kitchen brush made from palm fiber.

It features a unique angled cut at the tip, carefully designed for easy cleaning. The flat surface can be used to tackle stubborn stains and clean around the sink area.

When washing dishes or pans with oil buildup, first remove the oil stains with this brush, then use a sponge afterwards for a smooth, non-sticky clean. (Scrubbing too vigorously may cause scratches)

What is palm?

This is a palm family plant, a dioecious evergreen tree. The trunk stands upright and can reach up to 10 meters in height. The base of the long petiole forms a large leaf sheath, and the fibers that wrap around the trunk at the base of the leaf sheath become the material for numerous palm products.

Characteristics of palm products

The fibers of palm bark are strong and possess excellent water resistance and corrosion resistance, which is why they have been used since ancient times for ropes, brooms, and scrubbing brushes. Palm rope is used for assembling bamboo fences and has a wide range of applications, including the cultivation of Sanriku wakame seaweed.

A palm broom with added originality

Based on the historic method of broom-making, our craftsmen handcraft each piece individually, incorporating our own unique manufacturing techniques that we have newly developed. By braiding palm fiber into a three-strand plait for the shoulder section instead of using copper wire, we achieve enhanced design aesthetics while maintaining sufficient strength.

palm broom

Kainan City in Wakayama Prefecture is Japan's largest production area for household goods, which originated from the palm fiber industry that flourished from the Meiji era onwards. Palm fibers are fine, elastic, and flexible. Palm brooms that utilize these characteristics catch dust and dirt without stirring them up into the air. They are suitable not only for tatami mats and flooring but also for corners of rooms and stairs that vacuum cleaners cannot reach.
