・Although no glaze is applied, this piece features "yakishime" (high-fired unglazed pottery), which differs from regular bisque firing and prevents liquids from penetrating into the interior.
・Coffee, wine, and other beverages may cause stains on the textured surface. If staining occurs, please use a melamine sponge or bleach for cleaning.
・We recommend prompt cleaning after use to prevent beverage residue from drying.
・Small black spots or white patches occasionally visible on the surface are natural components from the clay. These are natural characteristics, so please enjoy them as the unique personality of each piece.

The charm lies in the unique marble patterns created by the blending of pure white transparent clay and gray ceramic clay, each one different from the other.

The history of Shigaraki ware
鎌倉時代に壺や甕、擂鉢などの焼き物づくりで始まったと伝えられています。その後、室町・安土桃山時代には茶道具が、江戸時代には茶碗や徳利などの日常器が作られました。日本独自の陶磁器産地として、日本六古窯のひとつに数えられています。
Characteristics of Shigaraki ware
The "Bidoro glaze" formed by ash that falls and is fired at high temperatures for extended periods, the "Hi-iro" (fire color) that develops a reddish-brown hue when iron content in the clay is fired, and the "Koge" (scorch) that creates a blackish-brown color when ash and clay body are carbonized, all express the distinctive "wabi" and "sabi" aesthetics unique to Shigaraki pottery, creating a distinctive character and charm.
Shigaraki Openware
The "Shigaraki Touki" developed at the Shigaraki Ceramic Technology Testing Center in 2009 is a translucent ceramic that allows light to pass through. It uses optical fiber raw materials as its main component and features a light transmittance rate 2.5 to 3 times higher than porcelain, allowing light to pass through even when thick.

Shigaraki pottery originates from Shigaraki, Koga City, Shiga Prefecture. The clay extracted from the geological stratum called the Kobiwako Group is well-suited for pottery making, and its origins are said to date back to the Kamakura period. The pottery that began with jars and earthenware vessels has evolved through the changing times to encompass a wide variety of items including tea jars, braziers, and umbrella stands. Shigaraki pottery enriches and enhances our daily lives by creating ceramics that meet the needs of each era while preserving its traditions and distinctive characteristics.
