A single-flower vase made from Shigaraki pottery.
Its compact size (slightly taller than the single-flower vase "maru") makes it suitable for any location, whether in the entrance, dining table, or bedroom. The bright blue color complements any flower and gently adds elegance to your space.
※Since each piece is entirely handmade, the pattern varies on each vase. Additionally, iron content in the clay may melt during firing and emerge as white spots on the surface. Please enjoy the unique, one-of-a-kind patterns that make each piece distinctive.

The history of Shigaraki ware
It is said to have begun in the Kamakura period with the production of pottery such as jars, urns, and grinding bowls. Later, tea ceremony utensils were made during the Muromachi and Azuchi-Momoyama periods, and everyday vessels such as tea bowls and sake bottles were produced during the Edo period. As a uniquely Japanese ceramics production area, it is counted among the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan.

Characteristics of Shigaraki ware
The "Bidoro glaze" formed by ash falling onto the pottery and fired at high temperatures for extended periods, the "fire color" that develops into a reddish-brown hue as iron content in the clay is fired, and the "scorch" that turns blackish-brown as ash and clay body carbonize together—these distinctive characteristics express the unique "wabi" and "sabi" of Shigaraki pottery, creating a singular aesthetic charm.

Shigaraki Openware
Developed in 2009 at the Shigaraki Ceramic Technology Research Center, "Shigaraki Toki" is a translucent ceramic that allows light to pass through. It uses optical fiber materials as its main ingredient and is characterized by a light transmittance rate that is 2.5 to 3 times higher than porcelain, enabling light to pass through even when thick.

Shigaraki ware
Shigaraki-yaki pottery is produced in Shigaraki, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. The clay extracted from the geological stratum called the Kobiwako Group is well-suited for pottery making, and its origins are said to date back to the Kamakura period. The pottery that began with jars and urns has evolved over time to encompass a wide variety of items including tea jars, braziers, and umbrella stands. Shigaraki-yaki enriches and beautifies our daily lives by creating pottery that meets the demands of each era while preserving its traditions and distinctive characteristics.
